Local wireless configuration
Connect to OpenDrift.
Tune from any browser.
OpenDrift creates its own Wi-Fi network inside the car. No router, internet connection, account, or app is required.
01 - Join the board
Connect your phone or computer to OpenDrift.
Power the car, then open the WiFi page on the Waveshare display. If its status is OFF, tap WIFI ON.

No. The configurator is served directly by the board.
Turn Wi-Fi on
On the OpenDrift display, swipe to the WiFi page and confirm it shows ON. The same page displays the current IP address.
Join the OpenDrift network
Open Wi-Fi settings on your phone, tablet, or computer. Select OpenDrift and enter opendrift when prompted.
Stay connected
Your device may say the network has no internet. That is normal—choose stay connected or use without internet.
02 - Open the configurator
Browse directly to the local address.
After joining the OpenDrift network, open a normal browser and type the complete address below into its address bar.
http://192.168.4.1 — bookmark this address for track-side setup.Adjust the active profile and save controller changes from a larger screen.
Create and select separate setups for P-tile, asphalt, carpet, or chassis changes.
Save recorded CSV logs for reviewing steering, throttle, motion, and correction behaviour. Read the blackbox guide.
Manage Wi-Fi startup, timeout, output mode, calibration, and other board settings.
03 - Physical servo endpoints
Capture the receiver, not the servo.
Open Physical Endpoints on the Waveshare display and capture the servo's safe full-left, center, and full-right physical positions. These become the final hard limits for both driver and gyro movement.
Maximum left
Hold the transmitter at full left and tap MAX LEFT.
Center
Release the wheel to neutral and tap CENTER.
Maximum right
Hold full right and tap MAX RIGHT.

If the page does not open.
Check the Waveshare display
The WiFi page must show ON and the address 192.168.4.1. Tap WIFI ON again if it timed out.
Verify the active network
Confirm your device is still connected to OpenDrift. Phones sometimes switch back to mobile data or a saved internet-connected network.
Use HTTP, not HTTPS
Enter http://192.168.4.1 exactly. The local configurator does not use HTTPS or opendriftrc.com.
Try another browser
Disable a VPN or private relay temporarily, then retry in Chrome, Edge, Safari, or Firefox while connected directly to OpenDrift.
